Who is Steelseries?

SteelSeries is all about gaming. Our mission is to create performance enhancing gaming gear, created for and by leading professional gamers. We continuously strive to better ourselves, and work with leading professional gamers from 3 different continents to create our products.

 

Our staff is distributed throughout the world, working from offices in Europe, North America and Asia.

 

The SteelSeries headquarters are located in Europe (Copenhagen, Denmark), and host the primary office facilities for the company. The headquarters handle all planning, production and partner coordination.

 

For logistical reasons we also have sales offices in Asia (Taipei, Taiwan) and USA (Los Angeles, California). From Taipei we can reach the entire Asian market, as well as New Zealand and Australia. From Los Angeles we can reach North America, Canada and South America. All manufacturing is done by sub-suppliers from Europe and Asia, and then delivered to one of our warehouses for final processing.--SteelSeries

 

First Impression

The first I noticed about this mousepad was the size. I expected it to be large, but it is even bigger than I had planned on. This mousepad will give plenty of space to maneuver your mouse. I was also happy to see that SteelSeries included some "reading material" on the mousepad.

I quickly opened the package to get a better look. What I found is what I consider to be the best mousepad I have ever used.

This basically means that the mousepad is a hard plastic, with a smooth finish. The underside of this mousepad also has a somewhat sticky finish making it hold onto the desk well, this is great for keeping the mousepad in place. This mouse even includes an information packet on some products and services offered by SteelSeries as well as a set of mouse feet. The feet provide an even smoother glide, great for fast paces games.

Testing

After using this mousepad for about a week I can say I am thoroughly impressed. The surface of the mousepad is very smooth and works great for any mouse. The additional mouse feet help even more with this. Simply adding a few plastic feet makes any mouse slide much better than before. I tested this mousepad using multiple first person shooters, including Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War, and Left 4 Dead. This mousepad gave great results in all of them. It took some getting used to but my mouse movements were faster and smoother than ever before. Another nice thing about this mousepad is that you cannot feel the edges with your hand. Because it is thin it's very difficult to feel the edge with your wrist.

 

 

 

Conclusion

Overall I am very happy with this mousepad. I have experienced no problems with it so far, and it is much better than I expected from a mousepad. If you have never owned or tried a "gaming" mousepad I sincerely recommend the SteelSeries S&S.

As you can see, I am very impressed with this mousepad. Comparable pads from other companies cost slightly more, and I frankly don't see what else I need from a mousepad. Smooth sliding surface, it doesn’t move out from under my mouse, and its big. As a mousepad; it serves its purpose. As a gaming mousepad; it competes with the best.

 

The SteelSeries S&S Mousepad receives a 9/10!
